Does the androgynous/ tomboy style work on a curvy body? (Details and body description inside!)

Disclaimer: I've read the wiki and a trying to make my post as informative as possible, if anything is missing, please let me know.

Hey r/FFA!

First off, I am currently in college. I have always been more of the frilly/ lacey, bows & flows kind of girl, but lately I've noticed that I'm getting sick of it.

I also am getting sick of having lots of bad quality stuff as opposed to fewer items with better quality, of which I love all. That's why I've been looking into capsule wardrobes and am planning to try and implement this for myself this cold season.

Regarding style, I seriously want to simplify things, and have been looking at and writing down a list of items I want, and know the kind of look I'm going for. To give you an idea, this was posted a few days ago. That's pretty much it. I really desire the effortlessly chic look this has, and the feeling of just pulling stuff out of my closet and putting it on without an hour-long debate.

Now the problem is, the core of most of these outfits are really skinny legs. Loose pants- skinny legs. Bulky sweater on top - contrast with skinny jeans in skinny legs.

To me this balance is what seems to tie the looks together. I have quite a curvy body (details below), so I avoid loose-fitting jeans altogether, and am at a point where I'm fine with it, skinny jeans it is.

Problem is, to me it seems like whenever I step out with a seriously simple, monochromatic outfit like skinny jeans, a lose tee and a cardigan, I look like I didn't put in any effort at all, no matter how well my clothes fit and my hair and makeup looks.

It might be because my body can't achieve that aforementioned balance, but wearing tighter-fitting tops isn't appealing to me, as it's not the look I'm going for.

Does not being willing to compromise on this mean that I have to give up the idea of implementing this style?

About my body:

  • I'm 1,62m tall

  • My Ideal pant size right now would probably be 30/30, but I have no problem with cuffing the bottoms on 30/32 jeans. What that means though is that I have quite big thighs, really wide hips and da booty. I am working on losing weight at the moment, though, so I can see myself dropping to 29 or maybe even 28, but my hips will stay wide and my butt won't disappear either, especially as I am working on toning it. I like my butt.

  • I have a really tiny waist. Really tiny. Depending on the sizing, I have bought XS waistbelts before and had to put in an additional hole. I don't have measuring tape but that hopefully gives you an idea.

  • 32 C

  • I have pretty narrow shoulders, so at least my upper body is proportional. I basically am the pear of all pears (no offense if you're even more the pear than I am, though. You rock).

I want to point out that I am in no way complaining about my bodytype, I was just wondering If I could make the androgynous/tomboyish style work, or if it does work and maybe my perception is just off.

Any help woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Bye!

TL;DR: Am curvy, want to pull the tomboy look of. Is it possible without looking sloppy?

EDIT: So I hope I replied to everyone, if not - thank you all so so much for your input! I have made a list of things to try and things to buy, and will work on developing my style. Unfortunately, I still often feel like I didn't put in any effort compared to previous outfits of mine. Hope that goes away.

Sorry to the people who wanted measurements and pictures, I realize that you're trying to help and really appreciate it, but don't know my measurements, don't have measuring tape, and don't feel comfortable sharing pictures of my body, since I really dislike it.

Still. Thanks a lot to everyone who commented, you were a big help. Mwah!
