Favourite Characters: Mickey Mouse - Now where would Disney without its mascot? Then again, if Walt Disney hadn’t created him, the company probably wouldn’t have a mascot. But seriously, Mickey has a fun personality and most of his cartoons are a joy to watch (the less said about ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’, the better). Honourable Mentions: Princess Jasmine (Aladdin), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Kermit the Frog (The Muppets), Simba (The Lion King), Scar (The Lion King), Winnie the Pooh, etc.
Despised Characters: Mertle Edmonds (Lilo and Stitch) - This character is just an unlikable brat. She is constantly mean to Lilo and often calls her "Weird-lo." Good grief, she's a plain unlikable bully. No wonder a lot of people hate her.Dishonourable Mentions: The Moopets (The Muppets), Commander Rourke (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Sharpay Evans (High School Musical), Kron (Dinosaur), Chi-Fu (Mulan), Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), etc.
Favourite Villain: Scar (The Lion King) - Scar may not have awesome powers like most Disney villains but why would he need them? He relies on his intelligence to gain his goals and the reasons are down to years of rejection which appears to have made him bitter. He may seem sarcastic at first but the moment he flings Mufasa to death, there’s absolutely no doubt he’s rotten to the core.Honourable Mentions: Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Jafar (Aladdin), Pete (Mickey Mouse), Hades (Hercules), etc.
Despised Villain: Commander Rourke (Atlantis: The Lost Empire) - Okay, this guy was just so sadistic for my liking. Why? He was actually willing to let an ancient civilisation die just so that he could become rich. Man, if not for Mertle and the Moopets breaking his fall, Rourke would have easily made the worst Disney character category. Dishonourable Mentions: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Mortimer Mouse (Mickey Mouse), etc.
Favourite Movie: The Lion King - I used to watch this film a lot in my childhood due to the powerful story behind it. Yes, some people may call it overrated but I don't care. As long as a story is entertaining, that's what's important.Honourable Mentions: Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast (both versions), The Princess and the Frog, Tarzan, Atlantis: the Lost Empire, Big Hero 6, Dinosaur, etc.
Despised Movie: High School Musical - Yeesh. I can’t believe I used to like this. Looking at it now, the story is rather cliché and the songs are just…I don’t know where to begin.Dishonourable Mentions: Teen Beach Movie, Home on the Range, Mars Need Moms, etc.
Most Overrated Movie: Frozen - I thought Frozen was okay but I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s the greatest Disney film of all time.
Most Underrated Movie: Atlantis - the Lost Empire - I honestly don’t get the flak for this film. Sure, it may not be the greatest Disney film ever but at least Disney tried to tell an original story with this. Honourable Mentions: Dinosaur, Tarzan, etc.
Favourite Song: Circle of Life - What a brilliant way to open a Disney film!Honourable Mentions: Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast), Be Prepared (The Lion King), The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book), etc.
Despised Song: Fixer Upper (Frozen) - Just forgettable. Enough said.
Most Overrated Character: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) - So yes, as you can tell, I do not like Maleficent. Everyone is saying that she's the greatest Disney Villain just because she has these “great powers”. Really?! That’s it? Her powers? What about her personality? But here’s the thing that makes me lose all respect for her - her motivation for cursing Aurora was all because she was (rightly so, in my opinion) not invited to Aurora’s birthday party! Good grief! That is the most immature excuse I’ve ever heard! So, yes, Maleficent is just plain….overrated!!! Dishonourable Mentions: Elsa and Anna (Frozen), etc.
Most Underrated Character: Milo Thatch (Atlantis: the Lost Empire) - Due to Atlantis' poor reputation amongst critics, certain characters tend to be overlooked including Milo. It's such a shame because he's got a great personality. He comes across a dorky character but the more the film progresses, the more you appreciate his character towards the end when he takes on Rourke. Heck, he even told Rourke's allies off for their selfishness and got them to repent their sins. If that's not good characterisation, I don't know what is.
